Day Camp and Boarding FAQ’s

What do I need to bring?

The Uptown Hound provides everything your pet needs. They will be provided with a 24×48 Pipe Dream Bed. This comfy bed is up off the ground giving them all the comfort they desire. We provide them with their food dishes, which are washed and sanitized after every feeding. The only thing you will need to bring is your pet’s food. This needs to be in a plastic container. NO dog food bags or zip lock bags please! DON’T worry, if you forget your food, our staff will provide servings of our signature gourmet dog food, FROMM. If you choose for us to provide FROMM to your loved one, there is a charge of $3.00 per day or you can purchase a bag according to size.

What is the schedule for my dog?

The Uptown Hound is surrounded by 50 luxurious acres that are divided up for your pet’s play and extra activities. Their day begins at 7:30 am when they are taken out to potty first thing, fed and then placed into play groups at 8:30. From 8:30 until 11:30 they will be enjoying a morning of play with their pack mates. Rest time begins at 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM. During this time; they are in their assigned suites napping while listening to classical music. Play time begins again from 2:00 until 4:30 PM at this time they come in to enjoy their dinner. After dinner, they are back out playing and running until 5:00 pm. After 5:00 everyone comes in for a much needed rest time.  At 9:00 PM, Snuggles and Snacks begin and all guest are escorted to the playground for their last  potty break/ playtime.  During Snuggles and snacks we serve them a sweet potato crunch treat, freshen up their water dish, and play classical music as they begin to relax for the night!

Does my dog stay inside or outside?

All friends, of The Uptown Hound, stay inside of our 2,600 square foot facility; unless specified by their mom or dad that they are better accommodated outside. Our facility is equipped with central heat and air, with special aggregate flooring that heats up and cools down according to the weather.

Why does my dog need a Bordetella Vaccine every six months?

Clinical cases of Canine Cough are usually caused by several infectious agents working together to damage and irritate the lining of the dog’s trachea and upper bronchi. The damage to the tracheal lining is fairly superficial, but exposes nerve endings that become irritated simply by the passage of air over the damaged tracheal lining. Once the organisms are eliminated, the tracheal lining will heal rapidly.

Canine Cough in dogs will stimulate a coarse, dry, hacking cough about three to seven days after the dog is initially infected. It sounds as if the dog needs to “clear his throat” and the cough will be triggered by any extra activity or exercise.

Even in the most hygienic, well ventilated, spacious resorts, the possibility of a dog acquiring Canine Cough exists. Canine Cough can be acquired from your neighbor’s dog, from a Champion show dog at a dog show, from the animal hospital where your dog just came in for treatment of a cut paw.

The Bordetella vaccine is only effective for 6-9 months. If your loved one is being boarded, or participating in Doggie Day Care programs, the Bordetella vaccine is recommended every 6 months to ensure a better chance of prevention.

Who takes care of my dogs when the office is closed?

The Uptown Hound is a family owned and operated establishment. We take great pride in caring for all of our guests. However, we do have specific hours of operations, and our offices are closed on all major holidays. BUT, your loved ones are cared for around the clock! On holidays and after hours, our staff works on a rotation schedule. This allows for all of our guests to be cared for and gives our family and staff time to be with their loved ones also.

Our Hours Monday – Friday 8:30am-11am and 3pm-5pm. Saturday 8:30am -11am (All guests must be checked in by 11am on Saturdays; No afternoon drop-offs) Sunday Closed

From the hours of 12:00-2:00 PM is our Rest and Relaxation Time; when all of our furry guests relax and unwind as classical music emanates through our facility. At 2:00 PM playtime resumes (sign your fur-baby up for “Yappy Hour”) and lasts until 4:00 PM.
